Founded in 1910, St. Anne's-Belfield School offers small class sizes, a talented and nurturing faculty, and challenging academics. St. Anne's-Belfield School serves approximately 900 students in Pre-School through Grade 12 across two campuses in Charlottesville, Virginia.


St. Anne's-Belfield Teaching Fellow

St. Anne's-Belfield School seeks four, full-time teaching fellows to cover classes when teachers are absent. These are one-year positions for the 2020-2021 school year. One fellow will work in our lower school (grades K-4), one fellow will work in our middle school (grades 5-8), and two fellows will work in our upper school (grades 9-12); one with a STEM background and one with a humanities background. Primary responsibilities include teaching and supporting both in-person and online learning in a range of age levels and subject areas and providing a consistent and optimal learning environment by following the lesson plans of the lead teacher. Additional responsibilities include covering duties and helping out where needed. Fellows will be fully engaged in the life of the school and will experience a myriad of professional learning experiences through mentoring, observation and feedback and participation in our robust new teacher program.

The School requires background checks, an in-person interview and an orientation to the school community and protocols.

Start date: August 5, 2020

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary substitute teacher
  • Assist in classroom activities
  • Support online learning
  • Coach an athletic team and/or co-lead an offering in the After School Enrichment Program for one season/term
  • Full participation in the New Teacher Program and Fellows cohort

Education and Experience:

Must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college; must have experience working with children

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to multitask and practice flexibility; Good interpersonal and communication skills
